Confidence that grows with them.
TeenOrthodontics
Orthodontic treatment designed for growing smiles — clear aligners, lingual braces, and traditional options matched to each teen's needs. Long Beach and Garden Grove.

Teen orthodontics isn't one-size-fits-all. Every growing smile is different — different stage, different case, different life.
At Bloom, we design every teen treatment plan around where they are clinically and how they live. The right treatment for a 12-year-old athlete is different from the right treatment for a 16-year-old heading into high school.
Treatment Options for Teens
Clear aligners — Clear removable aligners. Nearly invisible, removable, and matched to case complexity. Good for teens motivated to wear consistently.
Lingual braces — Brackets bonded to the inside of the teeth. Completely invisible from the front. Fixed, so there's no compliance concern. A strong choice for self-conscious teens or those who won't remember to wear aligners.
Clear ceramic braces — Tooth-colored brackets and wires. Less visible than metal, fixed, predictable. A good middle ground between metal and lingual.
Traditional braces — Still the fastest option for complex cases. Reliable, proven, and often the most efficient path for significant bite correction.
We help you and your teen choose based on the actual clinical picture — not just what's most popular.
The Timing Question
Most orthodontists recommend an initial evaluation by age 7 — not to start treatment, but to understand what's developing. Some issues are better treated early (Phase 1), while most comprehensive treatment begins when most permanent teeth have erupted, typically between ages 11 and 14.
We'll give you a clear picture at the first visit: whether to start now, wait and watch, or begin immediately.
What Teen Orthodontics Addresses
- Crowding
- Spacing and gaps
- Overbite, underbite, crossbite
- Open bite
- Protruding teeth
- Bite issues that affect chewing or jaw development
Some issues are genuinely easier to address during the growth years. Jaw position, for example, responds to growth guidance in ways that adult treatment can't replicate. When timing matters, we'll tell you.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should my child see an orthodontist? The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an evaluation by age 7. Most comprehensive treatment begins between ages 11–14.
Are clear aligners as effective as braces for teens? For mild to moderate cases, yes. For complex bite issues, fixed appliances often produce more predictable results. We recommend the right tool for the specific case.
What if my teen loses their aligners? We order replacements quickly if needed.
How do I know my teen is actually wearing their aligners? We track progress at every visit and can advise based on wear patterns and tooth movement.
Do braces affect sports or musical instruments? Sports: a mouthguard is recommended with any fixed appliances — we provide guidance. Instruments: there's an adjustment period, especially for brass and woodwind. Most teens adapt quickly.
Will my teen need a retainer after treatment? Yes, always. Teeth shift throughout life. Retainers protect everything you invested in.
