Treatment Options for Teens

Clear aligners — Clear removable aligners. Nearly invisible, removable, and matched to case complexity. Good for teens motivated to wear consistently.

Lingual braces — Brackets bonded to the inside of the teeth. Completely invisible from the front. Fixed, so there's no compliance concern. A strong choice for self-conscious teens or those who won't remember to wear aligners.

Clear ceramic braces — Tooth-colored brackets and wires. Less visible than metal, fixed, predictable. A good middle ground between metal and lingual.

Traditional braces — Still the fastest option for complex cases. Reliable, proven, and often the most efficient path for significant bite correction.

The Timing Question

Most orthodontists recommend an initial evaluation by age 7 — not to start treatment, but to understand what's developing. Some issues are better treated early (Phase 1), while most comprehensive treatment begins when most permanent teeth have erupted, typically between ages 11 and 14.
