Generally speaking, orthodontic emergencies tend to be very unusual. In fact, most of the patients who come to Bloom find that they experience very little discomfort during any phase of their treatment.

However, if you discover that you are feeling an unusual amount of pain or have a question about your orthodontic treatment, our team is always here and ready to help. Here are a few problems or symptoms to look out for:

Soreness. A small amount of soreness in the mouth or the teeth can be normal, especially during the first few weeks of orthodontic treatment or following a major adjustment. However, if small doses of over-the-counter pain relievers fail to bring you relief, your treatment may need to be fine-tuned by our team.

Irritation caused by wires. If you find a certain piece of metal wire is hurting your mouth, consider coating it with a tiny bit of wax to minimize any further abrasion. Then, treat cuts on the inside of your mouth with warm, salt water and place a call to Bloom Orthodontics right away.

Loose brackets or braces. Although it’s unusual for brackets to come loose on their own, they can sometimes become dislodged following accidents, sports injuries, etc. Call our office right away and we’ll ask a few questions to determine the best course of action.

Lost or broken dental appliances. Although the orthodontic tools and appliances we use are durable, it is possible for them to become broken or misplaced. Often, we can get a replica to you quickly or have you move ahead to the next stage of your treatment. Call our office and let us know what’s happened; we’ll find the answer that’s right for you.

Often, we can recommend steps you can take at home to minimize any pain or discomfort you might be feeling. However, your orthodontic treatments shouldn’t be painful, so feel free to reach us if it seems like you are experiencing an unusual amount of distress or if the problem is getting worse.

We may be able to help you even if you haven’t previously been one of our patients. If you have questions about what you’re feeling or need to schedule an appointment right away, contact the Bloom Orthodontics team immediately at 562-421-8883.

Dr. Vu is great! Very informative and knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable with her treating my son and I myself decided to get my teeth straightened with Invisalign. I am very happy with my results thus far. The office as a whole is awesome, very professional and attentive. All appointments are on time. I highly recommend Bloom Orthodontics.

Dr. Vu is amazing!!!! My mom use to never smile with teeth because she was embarrassed about her teeth. My mom's dream is to have straight beautiful teeth so she moved forward with Dr. Vu. After 18 months my mom is now soooo happy and smiles showing her beautiful straight teeth everyday! Thank Dr. Vu for making my mom's dream come true!!! With my mom's experience I look forward to having Dr. Vu help me with Invisalign since after braces I did not continue with wearing my retainers!

This office is excellent for many reasons. First and foremost, Dr. Vu is so talented and knowledgeable. She knows exactly what is she doing. She has graduated from one of the best dentistry schools in the country which is USC. Her assistants, Priscilla and her friends, are nice and easy to deal with. The receptionist is very good and gives you flexible appointments. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family members.
